MOBC Statement of Faith
1. We believe the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, is the divinely inspired Word of God. It is infallible in the original manuscripts, and the final source of authority in all matters of faith, principle, and practice (2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Timothy 3:14-17).
2. We believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, John 10:30, John 4:24).
3. We believe in the deity of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (John 1:1-2, John 10:33), His shed blood for the atonement (Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:14), His bodily resurrection (John 11:25), His ascension to the right hand of God (Acts 1:11) where He forever lives to make intercession for believers, and His personal visible, imminent, and pre-millennial return to the earth at the end of this age (1 Thessalonians 4:14-18, Revelation 19:11-16).
4. We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, possesses all of the divine attributes, and that He is the administrator of the things of God; He reveals truth, convicts of sin, regenerates through the new birth, and indwells, enlightens, guides, and enables Christians to live a Godly life (John 16:8, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
5. We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell. (Genesis 3:6-7) We believe in the universal depravity of the human race and that by nature, man is lost (Romans 3:19-23).
6. We believe the following about salvation:
7. We believe the following about the Church:
8. We believe that there are two scriptural ordinances: baptism and the Lord's Supper.
We believe that baptism is a scriptural ordinance requiring immersion of believers only (Acts 2:41; 8:38-39) to be administered by the New Testament Church (Romans 6:3-5, Matthew 3:15-16).
We believe the Lord's Supper is a scriptural ordinance of Jesus Christ to be partaken by obedient Christians of like faith (1 Corinthians 11:23-29).
9. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of life and the lost to the resurrection of damnation (John 5:28-29, Matthew 25:46).
10. We believe that the Bible teaches that satan is a fallen angel (Revelation 12:9). We believe satan is the great deceiver (Revelation 12:9). We believe the lake of fire is a place of eternal, conscious punishment of all the unsaved (Revelation 20:14-15). We believe hell is holding the lost until judgment (Revelation 20:13).

5. We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell. (Genesis 3:6-7) We believe in the universal depravity of the human race and that by nature, man is lost (Romans 3:19-23).
6. We believe the following about salvation:
- Salvation is by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ; it is instantaneous and wholly apart from human merit, and that every individual is a sinner by birth and that all accountable human beings are sinners by practice and by choice and therefore must exercise personal faith in the Christ who purchased their redemption by his death on Calvary (Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, Psalms 51:5, Romans 3:23, Romans 10:9-10).
- We believe that salvation is eternal and that all who are truly born again are kept by God the Father for the Lord Jesus Christ (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30, 1 Corinthians 1:4-8, 1 Peter 1:5, Philippians 1:6, Romans 8:35-39, Jude 1:1).
- We believe that it is a privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God's Word, but that the same Word clearly forbids the use of liberty as an occasion to the flesh (Romans 13:14, Titus 2:11-15).
7. We believe the following about the Church:
- Every born-again believer is, by the invisible act of God, accorded a place in the body of Christ and that this body is biblically identified as "The Church" (Ephesians 3:3, Colossians 1:24-27, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13).
- We believe that a local church is a congregation of immersed believers, associated together by covenant of the faith and in the fellowship of the gospel. We believe the church has the absolute right of self-government, directed by the Holy Spirit and answerable only to Christ, and that in all matters of membership, government, discipline, and benevolences, the will of God is final (Acts 2:41-42, 1 Corinthians 11:2, Ephesians 1:22-23; 5:23-24, Colossians 1:18).
